Adoption and rescue is a huge part of my life and something very near and dear to my heart.  I have two adoptables myself, Winston and Zona. I had a nagging at my heart to start photographing pets, which has been so amazingly rewarding for me.  And I thought, why not approach some local shelters to see if they need professional photos of their adoptables!  I had my first photo shoot with Small Chance Rescue last weekend.  I got to meet about a dozen of their dogs and instantly fell in love with each of them.  Below are some of the photos of the cute faces available for adoption through Small Chance Rescue.

One of the things I love about photography is getting know to the people I'm photographing.  Pets are no different!  I had a blast photographing Maggie last week.  Before our shoot, her human mom, Jenn, shared her story with me. While in college, Jenn was looking for a puppy when she found an ad in the paper for puppies being sold.  She went to the house to look at the puppies and couldn't believe how many Jack Russel Terriers the lady had; at least 20 were for sale.  The lady recommended that Jenn check out an 8 month old puppy that she saved for breeding because of her rare and prized symmetrical markings.  When she opened the door, Maggie came flying through the house, did a lap, and then ran back outside where she continued to run laps.  After closer look, it was clear to Jenn that Maggie had been neglected and malnourished.  Immediately, Jenn knew that Maggie needed her!  Jenn and Maggie have been together for 12 years now.  In Jenn's words, "over the years, she has been my best friend, helped me get through some really hard times, so I needed her too."

After meeting Maggie and spending time with her, it was very clear to me how Jenn fell in love with her and how much Maggie loves Jenn.  Maggie is adorable, friendly, and so energetic.  No wonder one of her nick names is "Bottled Lightening"!  Maggie also goes by: Moo Moo, Moogles, Magdala, Maggie Moomers, and Hot Lips.  She loves squeaky tennis balls, superman, and her favorite treat is human food.  Oh, and did I mention that Maggie is Head of Happy Human Resources at her mom's marketing company, Optic Bliss?  So, she's kind of a big deal...the Magnificent Maggie!

One of the questions I get the most from clients: What should I wear?  My first answer is always: COLOR.  Of course, I elaborate...Oh the possibilities are literally endless!  So, I thought...why not have a mini series of what to wear?  Since after all, I claim that the possibilities are endless...

Today, I share with you: Sunshine & Bluebonnet.  Inspired by Old Navy & Gap.

Oh, I was so excited when I got the email from Linus' parents!  He is such a cutie.  Linus is an almost 2 year old Australian Kelpie.  He was recently adopted from a local shelter, which of course makes me smile.  Linus and I, and a bunch of treats, got to spend some time together.  He is such a sweet boy with a very attentive personality.  We even got a few in there with his human sister!  So sweet.  So, without further ado, the super adorable Kelpie, Linus!
